Updates and All The Fun

It's very nerve-wracking to find out that your baby...your 12
year old child has to have surgery. I mean Stacie has really
never been sick except for the occasional sniffle or sore throat.

So you can imagine our dismay when we found out that Stacie
had a 11cm tumor on her right ovary. Immediately I knew at
the emergency room that we had to go see Dr. Morton in the
morning. I didnt want any other doctor touching my baby.
Once we got in to see her they did a ultrasound and
confirmed what we had already been told at the ER the
previous night. So she scheduled emergency surgery the
next day and we prepared ourselves. Stacie remained in
very good spirits (I guess she was relieved to know she wasnt
going to be in pain after the removal) and we were chewing
our nails like mom's do. Things went pretty smooth that
morning getting her to the hospital and settled into
outpatient surgery. I didnt notice her panic until they
hurt her putting in the IV into her small lil skinny arms.
It made her cry and she tried to hold it back. Then once
the Anesthesia people came in and mentioned putting the
tube down her throat.....then came the onset of worry in
her face. She was afraid they would do it while she was
awake and they assured her it wouldnt be put in till
she was in "lala" land. They finally came in and gave
her some "happy" drugs and she was hilarious after
that. Rolling her head around and sayins "I cant see"
made me chuckle at her as they rolled my baby down
the corridor to the OR. Surgery went good and
when we finally got to sit down with Doc to discuss
she was amazed. She said she had never seen these
"dermoid" tumors in a girl as young as her and that
not only did she have one big tumor she had TWO
completely seperate tumors totaling 12.5 cm and
weighing almost 8 lbs. OMG...my baby is only about
20 cm wide.... haha. She did state that there was a
small one starting on the left side and they were
prescribing her meds to help control the growth
of that. What really freaked us out is what she
told us this tumor was made up of.....teeth and
hair!!!! Stacie is recovering well and almost back
at 100%.

The scare of this really makes you appreciate
things. Life can be very strange sometimes.
Why a child of her age? Most women who get
these are of childbearing age. Thats our Stacie
she is a very unique individual!

Other than that...things have been pretty quiet
at our house. Preparing for Thanksgiving and
Christmas.....ugh. June and Donnas family took
the kids trick or treating while Steph and I stayed
home. I had to work the next day and was not trying
to deal with that.

Well....I will go for now. There is still work to be
done....and not enough hours in the day.....
